Workshop co-run by Dominique Leoni & Jo Kori
We had a very industrious day of experimenting with wet and dry paper preparation and drawing techniques, mark making and Chine collé at the Jerwood Gallery. The lively atmosphere helped and everybody power through to produce some fantastic drawings, despite broken window issues with force 9 gales!
Here are examples of some of the works produced during the workshop, combining various techniques learnt during the day.
Technique demonstration.
Great use of Chine Collé to create blocks of colour to break up the composition.
Painting with tape.
Technique combination.
Wet paper and pastel.
Wet paper, ink and match sticks.
Excellent combination of tape transfer with black ink.
Landscape painting with only tape transfer. Not a watercolour in sight!
Chine Collé shapes in the afternoon light.
Building the composition. Chine Collé is a great way to get a drawing started especially if the blank white page feels scary.
Drawing into the collage with charcoal pencil.
Experiments with chalk pastel on water soaked paper.
Pastel drawing on to water soaked paper.
Charcoal drawing over Chine Collé, giving the drawing extra texture.
Fantastic use of ink combined with the tape transfer technique.
